During my 15 years of the clinical journey in UK, I met beautiful souls, the patients, carers, staff and families, real life heroes who inspired me. I am eternally grateful to my patients for moulding and shaping my character and life. It always deeply moved me when my patients with special needs could not access services, wait for months for the appointments, sometimes having no option but to attend emergency departments. At times they would be stranded in the wards due to their disability, losing more of their remnant abilities. Some had to travel far distance for the consultations in UK’s unpredictable weather. It wasn’t uncommon for patient to make upto 4-6 hours journey to attend half an hour consultation.
There were also many patients with very complex disabilities, bed-bound in residential homes with unmet needs. Although these issues were lingering on my mind for a long time, it was not clear how to make things better. I now take a courageous step to reach out to those who could benefit from my expertise. Starting with this ‘Pro Bono’ service, as an initial step, I wish to expand the service in future as per the patient needs.
Thank you for allowing me to serve you
Yours sincerely
